It’s coming! It’s coming! The 100 Acre Virginia B. Fairbanks Art & Nature Park is fast approaching and I had a chance to take a sneak peek at the art installations last week. Let’s just say it involves everything from skeletons to basketball courts to a small island with two college students inhabiting its rather tiny island infrastructure.
You’re intrigued. I know.
Oh and I must not forget the visitors center in the middle of the park constructed of Brazilian Ipe wood, which has a higher fire density than concrete. (Yes, that was the most fascinating thing to me. Poke fun all you want.) But take a moment to really ponder that magnificent fact.
Higher fire density… than CONCRETE.
Ok moving on. With all of the fabulous installations going up all throughout the city, this summer is sure to be a hot spot on your vacation list. The 100 Acres Park is set to open June 20. (Ahem, which is ALSO Father’s Day.) I envision several families taking the dads for a rustic picnic on this day. Easy sell, right? Woods, animals, food… what more do you need, dad?
What outdoor activities do you like to do in Indy? I’m building my to-do list now and so should you!
