We’re a pretty good way from old Napoli in the heart of the Midwest, but each time I visit Bazbeaux I’m reminded of those lyrics about the big pizza pie and wonder if Deano was really talking about his love of that food.
If you’re from the Indy area, you’ve probably heard of Bazbeaux. They’ve been around since 1986 and I was still in high school then. Oh my. You’ve probably even had a meal or two at their locations on Mass Ave, in Broad Ripple or in Carmel, right off the Monon Trail.

There’s a reason they consistently earn awards for their pies. They have a good crust and a great variety of sauces and toppings! For the lunch pictured above, you can see I went for a plain ol’ pepperoni slice; however, I am a pretty adventurous eater and can vouch for the sublime Tchoupitoulas–saying it is almost as much fun as eating it–with cajun shrimp, the Genova with eggplant and goat cheese and the more “normal” offerings like BBQ chicken or Colossus, their version of a supreme. And all locations have a good selection of beer and wine to wash it all down.
I am also a slave to their creamy cucumber dressing and order a side salad no matter what! That’s why the lunch deal shown on the board below is so perfect for me. A slice for less than $3, salad for $1 and a drink for just a little bit more. I will confess to being a little annoyed that they no longer serve Jones Soda, my elixir of life; but, they are now offering Capt’n Eli’s Pop and I will give it a chance coz I’m cool like that.
So what about you, what’s your favorite thing to eat at Bazbeaux?
