So the Eldest Princess is cah-razy about the American Girl dolls. We’ve checked almost every book out of the library. We’ve played for hours on American Girl’s website. She just brought home an American Girl magazine from the school library today. And she has one American Girl Doll that we bought on a trip to the American Girl Store two years ago for her birthday.
All of this makes me hyper aware of any printing that contains both the words American and Girl in the same sentence. And I was thrilled that we didn’t have to travel all the way to Chicago for this American Girl experience – it’s right in our very own backyard at the Eiteljorg Museum of American Indians & Western Art. On Saturday January 29th, the Eiteljorg is holding its annual Kaya Day, celebrating the character of the American Girl book series and the life of her culture.
Children are invited to bring their favorite doll (whether it’s an American Girl or not), participate in special art activities with their families, play games, and listen to stories. And best of all, they have a chance to win a Kaya doll of their very own. If the last time you visited the museum, you felt it was too “grown up” for the younger set, you probably didn’t go downstairs to the R.B. Annis Family Experience – an interactive exhibit for kids of all ages!
The day’s event is free with admission to the museum (you can find a $2 off admission coupon here) and parking is validated at the Eiteljorg.
Gather up your dolls (both of the toy and child variety) and mosey on down to the Eiteljorg. ’Cuz this town is certainly big enough for all of you and Kaya, too.
