Mo’s…A Place for Steaks Transforms the Ordinary

Valentine’s Day is only days away. Whether you still have no clue what you plan to do for your loved one or you’ve made plans weeks ago, if I were you i’d make a reservation to one of the most polished yet mellow restaurants in Indianapolis… Mo’s…A Place for Steaks.

I’ve passed by the restaurant about a thousand times and would almost press my nose against the glass from outdoors to see the delectable fare and the fabulous people enjoying it.

Don’t let Mo’s intimidate you and don’t for one second believe Mo’s is your typical steakhouse. What set’s Mo’s apart from the other steak peddlers is that Mo’s takes the common meal but finds unexpected ways to make it special and spectacular.

Upon entering the restaurant, I felt like I had hopped into the DeLorean and went back to the 1920s. Mo’s had a sort of Humphrey Bogart, Grace Kelly kind of feel to it. Their signature drinks are so a la James Bond.

My guest and I were seated in a cozy table near a window looking out onto Pennsylvania Street. Our server, Zach, introduced himself (he actually shook our hands) and helped get the meal off to a wonderful start.

Not only did he explain the day’s offerings, he went above and beyond to make sure we were satisfied with our selections.

We started off the meal with the Shrimp Cocktail, which rivals another Indy restaurant that boasts of having an amazing shrimp cocktail, and the Seared Sea Scallops. If you try the shrimp cocktail, I’m warning you, take a modest bite because the sauce definitely had kick!

Before selecting our entree, Zach brought out a “meat plate” to not just explain to us their signature meats but to show us what kind of tempting trouble we were about to get into.

The 20 oz. Bone-In Ribeye is Mo's...A Place for Steaks' signature steak

I thought long and hard about getting the Baby Back Ribs, but to me, you just don’t go to a restaurant that specializes in something and not try it. So I decided on the Filet Mignon. My guest chose Mo’s Signature Steak, the 20 oz. Bone-In Ribeye. We paired the steaks with The Baumann, Mo’s Signature double Baked Potato, and the Sautee’d Mushrooms.

We also opted to try all three soups available that day, and we were also offered a wonderful spread of bread with butter.

The Baumann and the Sauteed Mushrooms were the perfect complement to our steaks

Talking with the head waiter, Chris, he informed me that the special foie gras butter was one of 20 or 30 special butters that Mo’s chef prepares. See, I told you Mo’s takes something simple and makes it special.

On each course (especially the monstrous Mo’s Cookie), every bite was just as delicious as the last.

Mo’s…A Place for Steaks, located in Indy’s Wholesale District is definitely the quintessential place for savory steaks, premier service and an atmosphere that puts you at ease.

Special thanks to Jeremiah, Chris and Zach!!
