They say music is the heart of our soul. Whether you believe that or not, there’s no denying that music is a powerful, transcendent force that instantly links you to memories and feelings, brings people together, and gives life a wonderful soundtrack.
And if you like music, chances are you’re a fan of live music. Nothing is greater than seeing and hearing, in person, an artist you’ve heard over and over again. At The Vogue in Indianapolis, you can come face-to-face with some of your favorite artists in an intimate and very authentic setting.
The Vogue has been an Indianapolis mainstay since it opened on June 18, 1938, as a movie theater. In the late 70’s it transformed into a nightclub and since that time it has been bringing audible joy to music fans in Indianapolis’s famed Broad Ripple area. Just a few of the famous artists that have performed on the Vogue stage include Willie Nelson, Johnny Cash, The White Stripes, Rusted Root, Snoop Dogg, The Dave Matthews Band and so many more.
For a belated Valentine’s Day gift to each other, my wife and I took in a trio of singer/songwriters in Joshua Radin, Cary Brothers and Laura Jansen. The experience was top-notch and the acoustics brought the music to life. So grab your husband, wife, boyfriend or girlfriend and head to Indianapolis to catch some great live music. There are many great shows coming up at The Vogue, including Pete Yorn and Ben Kweller, Queens of the Stone Age (sold out but tickets can be found online) and Iron and Wine.
If those dates don’t work for you, check out the live concert series held on The Lawn White River State Park throughout the summer. The recently announced lineup includes Arcade Fire, Ray Lamontagne and The Black Keys.
