Do you like art, food, drink, live music and the outdoors? Would you like them all in one place? If you plan a trip to Indianapolis this weekend, you can have exactly that.
The Broad Ripple Arts Fair, now in its 41st year, is a favorite event of locals and visitors alike. It takes place on the grounds of the Indianapolis Art Center on May 21 and 22, which I covered in a previous post, on the banks of the White River.
If you’re looking for the ultimate date that offers everything you could want, this is it. The namesake of the event, the art, comes in every size, shape and form – ceramics, jewelry, photography, prints, painting, sculpture, furniture, digital media, clothing, glass, and so much more. Whether you just want to browse art or you’re looking for the perfect pieces for your house, condo or apartment, you’ll find what you’re looking for among the 225 exhibitors.
All that walking is going to make your hungry and thirsty, but you won’t have to go far to cure that itch. The fair also plays host to a wide array of local vendors providing everything from Italian to Cajun and Indian to Caribbean – in addition to some great American options. And to top it all off, there’s even ice cream, fudge and coffee. For the 21 and older crowd, there’s beer and wine available throughout, including at the Riverfront Pub.
If you’ve had your fill of food and art, there are four stages featuring a smattering of live entertainment. No matter what you’re taste in live music is, you’re sure to find it in one of the 21 performances that will take place over the course of the two-day event.
Tickets can be purchased in advance for $12 or at the gate for $15. Oh, and the best part of all, perhaps, is that all proceeds from the art fair directly benefit Art Center programs. So head to Indy this weekend and show your significant other you know the art of a perfect date.
