Free concerts abound in Indianapolis pretty much any time of the year. However, it seems like during the summer, when the weather is hot, the amount of free live performances are too. I spent a little time browsing the Visit Indy site today, collecting some of the dates that upcoming artists will offer sounds that will soothe both your ears and your pocketbook.
Indianapolis Artsgarden: Catch groups like Celtica (7/6), Greg Ziesemer and Kriss Luckett (7/10), the Indianapolis Youth Jazz Ensemble (7/10) and more at this beautiful downtown venue. Most concerts here are in the afternoons, perfect for a lunch break or a shopping break at Circle Centre Mall.
Easley Winery: Groovin’ in the Garden at Easley Winery also features a number of artists all summer long on Tuesdays (5-7 PM) and Saturdays (2-5 PM). Coming up in the next few weeks are Greg O’Haver (7/5), Luke Austin Daugherty (7/9), Blue Alchemy (7/12), and the Tonos Triad (7/16). Seating is limited but you can bring your own chair. And I can’t promise that you won’t be tempted to purchase some wine while you’re there, but the music is free. :)
Indy Parks Summer Concert Series: It doesn’t matter which part of the city you live in or are visiting, you’re bound to find a location, a date, and a musical style that fits the bill this summer thanks to the Indy Parks. Ellenberger Park (Irvington), Broad Ripple Park, Southeastway Park, Garfield Park, Holiday Park, Irving Circle, Eagle Creek Park, Watkins Park and more invite you to hear the sounds of summer and enjoy the great outdoors. AND they also have a great line up of FREE summer movies, too. Check dates, times, and artists here.
