Get Your Festival On This June in Indianapolis

300 Volunteers + 18,000 Shortcakes + Six TONS of Strawberries = GREAT Fun at the Strawberry Festival

Oh those lazy hazy days of summer have definitely set in here in Indianapolis.

Summer days and nights are always sweetened best by a good festival.  Where else can you sample delicious foods that you probably only eat once or twice a year, gulp down a lemon shakeup, and listen to the gleeful cheers of children riding a carousel of magical animals who go round and round and up and down.

Here are just a few of the local festivals that will be lighting up the day and night with wonderful food, sights, smells, and sounds.

47th Annual Christ Church Strawberry Festival: Head to Christ Cathedral Church on Monument Circle on June 14th from 9 AM to 6 PM to celebrate Strawberry goodness.  Only $6 gets you the complete “Works” – strawberries on a shortcake biscuit and of course lots of whipped cream.  Other lesser treats are available {at a lesser price} if you’re looking for options.  Bring your pocket cash though because they don’t take credit, debit, or check.

Summer Solstice in 100 Acres: Saturday, June 16th from 5-8 PM, summer will definitely be in the evening air at the Indianapolis Museum of Art’s Summer Solstice celebration.  Admission is free and you’re encouraged to bring a blanket to spread out on the wide open spaces while listening to beautiful music and engaging in both natural and created art.  Food, wine and beer are available for purchase from the newest addition to the IMA – Chop Stick – in the 100 Acres.

82nd Annual Marion County Fair: Does it get any better than an Indiana County Fair in the summer time?  The animals, the lights of the midway, the 4H exhibits filled with hard work and long hours, the music, and more all scream summer time fun!  This year’s Marion County Fair will be June 22nd – June 30th {a month earlier than the fair has been in year’s past}.  Admission is $5 and FREE for Children 5 and Under.  Parking is FREE, too.  If you want to maximize your savings, there’s also a $1 off coupon available or a savings of $5 if you buy tickets to both the Fair and the Indianapolis Air Show.  Details are here.

Eiteljorg 2012 Indian Market and Festival:  June 22nd and 23rd, art, culture, music, and food will fill the air in the Eiteljorg’s annual 2 day celebration of Native American Culture.  Re-enactments, dance, storytelling, and of course art are all a part of this fabulous festival.  Tickets are $8-10 but best of all, children 17 and under are FREE.  And don’t miss the special The Dogbane Family Activity Area where you can make arts and crafts of your very own, inspired by the Native American culture.

There are MANY more wonderful festivals in Indianapolis all summer long!  Don’t miss your opportunity to breathe in the sights and sounds of summer.  What’s your favorite Indianapolis Summer Festival?
