We’ve Got the Fever {& A Parade to Celebrate It}

Good morning Indianapolis!  The clouds and rain might be in the sky today but in our hearts there is great sunshine and rejoicing.  If you haven’t heard, our fantastic WNBA team – the Indiana Fever – won the NATIONAL Championship this past weekend!  Today, it looks like a good day to celebrate.

And I could think of no better way to celebrate than with a good parade {which by the way is of course FREE}.  So get thee to downtown Indianapolis to cheer on the Indiana Fever and participate in the revelry.  The fun begins very soon so pay close attention, have the kids put on their shoes, and pour your coffee in a to go mug to celebrate a wee bit of history and root, root, root for the home team.

Beginning at 12:05 PM, a four block parade route will begin at Monument Circle.  It will travel down Meridian Street south for three blocks and then process to Georgia Street east toward Pennsylvania.  At 12:25 PM, there will be a special program on the Georgia Street Stage {Have you been down Georgia Street lately?  It’s rather fabulous and there’s always something going on especially on 2nd Thursdays.}.

Congrats to the women of the Indiana Fever in their defeat of the Minnesota Lynx to clinch the title.  It’s the first professional basketball title won in our city since 1973 with Pacers’ ABA win.  Speaking of the Pacers, have you seen the viral video of Roy Hibbert breaking it down in Circle Centre “Gangnam Style”?  It’s guaranteed to bring sunshine to the cloudiest day.
