A Family’s New Year’s Eve in Indianapolis

Looking to ring in the new year with little ones?  Everyone knows that no matter how hard they try, many will doze off by 10 PM.  Or if they don’t?  #Crankypantscity.  Luckily there’s plenty to do in Indianapolis for the 12 and under set on NYE.  These events are family friendly {no worries about someone tying one too many on in front of little eyes and ears} and specially designed for the entire family to celebrate the last day of the year with fun and good cheer.

Face painting, stilt walkers {what an amazing sight for little eyes to behold!}, crafts, games, magicians, & a live band will fill the Governor Frank O’Bannon Great Hall at the Indiana State Museum’s Family New Year’s Eve.  The event runs from 6-9 pm.  Best of all at 8 pm, an official 3 . . . 2 . . . 1 countdown will ring in the New Year a wee bit early and balloons will drop from the ceiling!  Cost is $6 per member {you know a membership to the Indiana State Museum would make a GREAT gift for your entire family & is only $70} or $11 per non member.

But maybe even 6-9 pm will be pushing the limits for your little one.  Have no fear, head to the Children’s Museum of Indianapolis in the am hours for the “Countdown to Noon” celebration.  From 10 am to 1 pm, there will be fun activities, music, and general frivolity at the world’s best Children’s Museum.  Of course the crowing feature of this event is the Water Clock Countdown at 1 pm.  In order to guarantee your spot at this very popular event, arrive no later than 11 am.  Space is super limited.
