Trying new restaurants can be intimidating. You know when you get in that groove of going to the same place every Friday, and familiar restaurants can feel like best friends. Indianapolis has so many amazing restaurants that you must try, and a Devour Downtown vows to get you out there to try them.
Devour Downtown Winterfest runs from January 21 to February 3 with approximately 50 restaurants offering specially designed dinner (and some lunch) menus to introduce you to what downtown restaurants have to offer. Last year, more than 200,000 people took advantage of Devour Downtown, and for the size of Indianapolis, it’s one of the largest restaurant weeks in the country!
Deals can vary per restaurant, with some offering 2 for $30 lunch or dinner options, while others such as Dunaway’s and Shula’s (both steakhouses) are at $35-40 per person. Each restaurant creates a special menu to order off of, some with appetizer, entree and dessert courses, that show off their specialties. This takes the stress out of feeling overwhelmed by ordering off of a large menu.
To get started, visit DevourDowntown.org to view restaurants and menus, all of which will be available to view online by January 10. You’ll find traditional favorites such as Eagle’s Nest, Weber Grill and Palomino, to new hot spots like Cerulean and The Libertine. I’m interested in trying the hickory smoked baby back ribs at Smokehouse on Shelby Street and the duck leg confit at Mesh, two places I have yet to venture to.
We’re giving away $100 to a participating Devour Downtown restaurant each week in January! All you have to do to enter is snap a photo of your food or restaurant atmosphere while you’re out and about, upload it to Instagram and tag it with #DiningIndy. We’ll share our favorites at the end of each week in a blog post. If yours is featured, share the post with your friends and get them to comment for you. The photo with the most comments wins!
