Remember last week and yesterday when I began sharing the enormous number of FREE Indianapolis Martin Luther King Jr. Day Celebrations?  {Read FREE MLK Day Events at White River State Park & More FREE MLK Events in Indianapolis to get caught up if not.}  Today, I’m excited to share TWO more wonderfully planned, educational, fun and of course FREE ways to celebrate MLK Day in Indianapolis.

The Indiana History Center will host a special day of performances, crafts, and family fun in honor and celebration of the life and achievements of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. on January 21st from 10 am to 5 pm.  From live coverage of the Presidential Inauguration to storytelling, dance, and even orchestra music, the day will be filled with special festivities, all for free.  Plus, the awesome Indiana Experience will be free, too!

January 21st also marks the kick off of the Indiana Black History Challenge.  Students can gain access to an online study guide and then take a 10 question quiz.  Just for participating, your prince or princess snags two FREE tickets to the Indiana Experience at the Eugene and Marilyn Glick Indiana History Center.  And if your brilliant little scholar gets all 10 question correct?  He or she gains entry into a fabulous give away which includes 4 lower-level tickets to March 15th’s Indiana Pacers home game against the Los Angeles Lakers and the winner will even be recognized at halftime!  The grand prize also includes an overnight stay at the J.W. Marriott {waaahoooo hotel livin’}, $50 gift certificate to The Capital Grille {fancy schmancy!}, 4 tickets to the Indiana State Museum, 4 tickets to The Children’s Museum and a family membership to the Indiana Historical Society.  30 lucky winners can also receive 4 tickets to an Indianapolis Indians’ game {Princess Eldest won some of these last year}.  The study guide and quiz will go live here on January 21 and the contest runs through February 28.  This year’s challenge is themed around Indiana African-American sports figures.

Help your students gain a better understanding of the world around them through the impact of Hoosier history this MLK Day at the Indiana History Center!
