Last week, I had the opportunity to go to Trendianapolis. It completely blew me away. Now, I don’t claim to be a fashionista myself, but who doesn’t love a good show?
The Haute Hoosier’s Maggie Conner and Megan Giannini did an incredible job transforming the top floor of The Libertine Liquor Bar into a full-scale fashion show. Designs from Twirl Boutique, JH Fashions and Dugdale Designs all graced the runway.
After the show, I circulated the room asking attendees how they describe Indy’s fashion scene. About 95 percent of people said up-and-coming. I couldn’t agree more.
This month, Indy’s fashion scene is taking it to a new level. Pattern, Indy’s own fashion magazine, is launching its spring issue (which can now be purchased at Indy Reads and Barnes & Noble, by the way), and Indianapolis is hosting Midwest Fashion Week (March 9-16).
We’re also celebrating some milestones on the retail side of things. The multi-million dollar renovation at The Fashion Mall at Keystone, which is anchored by stores such as Saks Fifth Avenue, Nordstrom, Apple and Crate & Barrel, is now complete. Also, stay tuned for a Michael Kors, Kate Spade and True Religion – all opening at the Fashion Mall this summer.
Clearly, Indy has a lot going on. From vintage to modern, follow along as we present Wearing Indy, our month-long guide to fashion, shopping and trends in Indianapolis.
