Our Guide to Local Threads

There’s nothing wrong with doing your shopping in the mall, but every now and then you want something different. You want a unique piece you know no one else is going to have–but everyone is going to want. That’s when it’s time to walk off the beaten path and explore some of Indianapolis’ coolest boutiques and clothing stores.

Indianapolis: The Districts Collection at Homespun

This amazing store, nestled in the vibrant Irvington

neighborhood on Indy’s east side, focuses on offering handmade products from Hoosier artisans. While they have everything from homemade soap to gourmet marshmallows, they also stock an extensive collection of wearables. Make sure you check out their t-shirt collection, which offers more Indiana prints and Hoosier puns than you can handle, all with a chic hipster vibe. You’ll also find warm hand-knitted woolens, purses and even baby clothes.

Silver in the City

A staple of Mass Ave, Silver in the City stocks some of the quirkiest housewares in town. But they’re most known for their collection of gorgeous jewelry. I’m partial to the tiny, delicate Indiana charm necklace, but whether your style is subtle and classic or bold and colorful, you’ll find just what you’re looking for.

IndySwank

facebook3IndySwank combines beautiful, modern jewelry designs with vintage fashion. As part of the revitalized Fountain Square area, the store is funky and fun, and as with all vintage stores, you never know just what you might find on any given day. Make sure you check out some of their Indy original pieces too, like a pretty choker inscribed with Indy’s affectionate “Naptown” nickname.

No matter what your style, Indianapolis has a boutique that’ll fit you like a glove. And, if your still looking for some inspiration, enter our contest for four passes to the Benjamin Harrison Home and take tips from our stylish First Ladies (check out my last post Raising the Hem). After you take a tour, enjoy lunch at LePeep! All you have to do is enter the Rafflecopter below:

I actually LOVE a little place right outside Indy called Dottie Coutore in Greenwood. You can order from them online or check them out on Facebook, but they are my most shop place with the CUTEST dresses, clothes, and accessories.
