Coupons, Deals, & Affordable Places to Eat in Indy

Peppy Grill

I’ll be 100 percent up front with you.  Unless someone else is paying, it’s rare that I eat at a restaurant without a coupon, loyalty card, gift card, or on some sort of promotion.  It’s just how we roll around here.  Luckily, Indianapolis is a city where it’s easy to find good deals on dining, specials, and coupons.  Here are some of my favorite ways to save when it comes to royal dining in the Circle City.

Deal Sites: I think that many people know to scour sites like Groupon and Living Social.  You’ll make your life much easier by sorting the deals to display only Food & Drink categories.  I also like lesser known sites like Sweet Jack, Deal Chicken, and Dinner Bid {which is a coupon site rather than group deal site}.  Be sure you read the fine print closely {Is a minimum purchase required?  Are there only particular days the deal can be used?  Does it have a long “shelf life” or extended expiration date?}.  A deal is not a deal unless you use it.  So print it immediately or be sure you have the accompanying mobile app that will allow you to use your deal on the go.

Coupons: It’s wise to check the Visit Indy site’s Discount & Coupon area throughout the year.  You can find a host of coupons that change on a regular basis.  eReach, ValPak, Neighborhood Source, Money Mailer, Discover Indy, and Entertainment Book all feature a number of fantastic coupons.  You’ll need to purchase Entertainment or Discover Indy Books but eReach, ValPak, Neighborhood Source, & Money Mailer all come via snail mail {all except Neighborhood Source are available to use via the web, too}.  If you have a favorite haunt, the best thing to do is to join their eClub or loyalty program.  Get on their website to see if they have one.

Places to Eat on the Cheap:  The list would be long if I shared every single one, but some of my favorite cheap places to snag a bite include:

  • Peppy Grill {open 24 hours, try the Biscuits & Gravy or Pie}
  • The Lunch Special at Bazbeaux {$2.75 for a yummy traditional slice}
  • The $2 Bar Menu at Mesh on Mass for Happy Hour and late nights
  • Scotty’s Brewhouse because of their daily specials & the fact that kids eat free both Tuesdays and Sundays
  • Yats Cajun Creole because their portions are both affordable and ridiculously large so they’re easy to split.

So how do you save while dining out in Indy and where’s your favorite place to grab a meal on the cheap?
